16U Roster

The Sioux Falls POWER 16U team is under the direction of head coach, Noëlle Needham and assistant coach John Draeger.

Noelle Needham

Head Coach

Sioux Falls Power co-founder and co-owner, Noelle Needham, is in her 11th year as head coach of the 16U team. A South Dakota native, she made history as the first female NHL amateur scout when hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2018. After her time with the Maple Leafs, Noelle served as Associate General Manager and Director of Scouting for the Chicago Steel (USHL) for three seasons, winning a Clark Cup during the 2020-2021 season.

Noelle’s background highlights a deep commitment to hockey and player development. Her experience as a collegiate forward at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and her co-founding of Sioux Falls Power and Legend Hockey demonstrates her dedication to shaping athletes’ careers. Growing up on a ranch in South Dakota built a foundation of hard work and perseverance, qualities that translate into her approach to player training and development.

By establishing Sioux Falls Power and Legend Hockey in Sioux Falls, Noelle strategically positioned these programs in a prime area for hockey growth, close to both USHL and NCAA recruiting grounds. Her work not only contributes to the development of elite-level players but also creates a support system for athletes as they progress through their careers, from Junior leagues all the way to the NHL.

John Draeger

Assistant Coach

John Draeger returns to Sioux Falls following one season at the USA National Team Development Program NTDP (2025-2026). Previously, John led Sioux Falls POWER 18U team from 2022 to 2025 after his time as assistant coach at Prior Lake High School in Minnesota (2017-2019).

John graduated from Michigan State and was drafted to the Minnesota Wild after two National Championships wins at Shattuck-St. Mary’s High School. He holds a Master’s in Strength & Conditioning from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where his research focused on applying Dynamic Correspondence and Ecological Dynamics in order to develop training methods for hockey players. John is also the owner of Perfect World Hockey Training in Edina, MN.

"Our family moved from Alaska to South Dakota so our three boys could pursue their hockey goals, and choosing Sioux Falls Power has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. Our oldest is in his second season (16U and now 18U), our middle son plays 15O, and our youngest trains with the affiliated Legend Hockey program. Across all levels, we’ve seen consistent growth in hockey skills, habits, details, hockey sense, and confidence, along with strong character development."

"My son, Jimmy Egan’s season with Sioux Falls Power Tier 1 under Coach Noelle Needham was the most important year of his development, both as a hockey player and as a young man. Coach Noelle runs a professional, disciplined, and highly competitive program with a strong focus on both on-ice and off-ice development. It truly pushes every player beyond their limits."

"The Sioux Falls Power program was instrumental in Caleb's development on and off the ice. During his two years there, he received incredible coaching, a great environment for on-ice development, but more importantly, personal accountability on and off the ice. Coach Noelle challenges the players in different ways that prepare them for the next level."

"Sending our boys to Sioux Falls Power was one of the best decisions we made as a hockey family. It wasn’t always the easiest path, Brody had to leave the comfort of high school hockey his senior year, but it was absolutely the right one. That season at 18U AAA unlocked another level for him, prepared him for junior hockey and he’s now playing college hockey at Elmira."

"Our son Easton Johnson was part of the Power family for 4 years. He played u13 all the way thru u16. In terms of opportunity and growth as a person and a player, you couldn’t ask for more from a program. From the skill and skating work to overall knowledge of the game, makes you a better player in every way. Also being a tier one program gives you a chance to play the best competition and gives you an opportunity to be noticed by scouts. We will be forever grateful for what the Sioux Falls Power program has done for our family."

"The Sioux Falls Power hockey club is best in class and can be a trusted development step in your son's hockey career. My son, Aidan played for the Power program beginning at his U13 through U16 years before moving on to the WHL, now playing as a 17 yo, for the Calgary Hitmen. He was also a gold medal winner as a player on the U18 US Men’s National Hlinka-Gretzky team in the summer of 2025."
