Former Sioux Falls Power standout Easton Johnson has committed to continue his hockey career at the University of Michigan, where he is expected to play NCAA Division I hockey beginning in 2027.
Johnson, a 2009-born defenseman, developed through the Sioux Falls Power program before advancing to the U.S. National Team Development Program. Neutral Zone recently highlighted Johnson among its NCAA commitments for October 6–12, describing him as a standout from Sioux Falls Power and a well-rounded two-way defenseman.
According to Neutral Zone, Johnson brings four-way mobility, strong edge control, poise with the puck, and the ability to defend with awareness and positioning. The scouting report described him as a defenseman capable of playing any role on the backend.
Johnson’s development is another example of the pathway Sioux Falls Power strives to provide for its players — from Tier 1 youth hockey to the highest levels of amateur hockey in the United States.
